My best friend: Sultán (2000-2007)

I don’t have any pets now, since I came here to Santiago to study I haven’t been able to have a pet. On my first year of University I thought of buying a beautiful fish, I even bought all the necessary stuff to have a fish, but I did realize that the worst thing in the world is when you have a pet and you don’t take care of it correctly and they suffer, you suffer more than them.. Like my last fish, I usually did keep them very clean, and when I was little I remember clearly that my mom hurry me up, to go somewhere but I was in the middle of cleaning my bubble house for fishes and I used to cleaned it with a lot of soap and then washed it up with tons of clear water, so the fishes didn’t die... but that time my mom said: common we have to go!! so I only partially cleaned their bubble house and they die. It was so sad seeing them next day floating upside down.

Where I used to live in la Serena was a pretty big place, with tons of space for animals. I had one time 13 dogs , and at the same time to made it worst I had 10 cats haha, crazy farm I think the neighbors used to called us … I had a lot of fishes and hamsters.. I helped my dog Carla to bring her baby dogs alive. It was the most beautiful and scary thing ever!  and also I have seen died my only true dog ( ‘cuz I have a big family, where everyone had a dog to take care of..) he died when I was in the U.S. and my mom didn’t tell me after 4 months of his death (cried a lot)

 Would love to have a nice big dog when i get my own place to live in.

Alvar Aalto my ideal of architect to follow..

Alvar Aalto 1898- 1976 

He was an architect from Finland , he lived during 1900’s he was part of the international style of modernism, but in the last part of his career he started to do more projects with an organic style , more on his own style if you can call it that way. I think his life as an architect is one of the best ideal to follow, he understood what it was going on during his time of life, but also gave a new addition with his proposal of architecture. He was also considered a Designer, he basically designed every piece of furniture on his projects, his most famous furniture were his chairs.

As an architect to me, he totally made sure his architecture were part of the culture of his origins, even though he made a lot of projects outside Finland the greatest art work were done with the essence of Finland, more cozy houses, the interior with wood, and he made everything functioning with the light. As Finland is considered a northern country, he put a lot of his effort designing spaces that were made for catching the most natural light as possible.

To me he was the most amazing artist; he took every detail to another level, that’s what I love about him. He understood that being an architect it’s not completed just by designing a project; it’s about how the people would live inside that space. 

Fav Movie

I just don’t have one favorite movie, but the one that made great impact on my life was The Lord Of The Ring, the first one, the Fellowship of the ring… I saw it with my dad, and we sat at the very front of the movie theatre because, with my dad we are always late haha … so when the music started to play I just knew that something big was coming .. I like it  mostly because of the story and the partnership that shows between the characters, the movie which is based on the famous books of J.R.R Tolkien, were created during the war, so he kind of represented how he saw the world at that time and tried to shoot his friends personalities and acts of loyalties during that certain part of his life, he actually moved a lot to escape from being a soldier, so he moved to South Africa to get away finally from the horror of the war, and during his last days he moved back to Great Britain.

This photo is from Ashes and snow, an installation of photographic artworks part of the Nomadic Museum, which goes all around the globe, expose in a temporary structure made just for the art installation, this exhibition have been seen all over the world for more than 10 million people , turning Ashes and Snow the most seen installation of art by a living artist on history, Gregory Colbert.

I first saw this photo on 2006 when I was at my junior year at high school. I did have a lot of trouble in my life at the time, so I did spend most of the time by myself, reading or looking at gorgeous pictures from somewhere… it did help me to relax and to imagine that the world it’s not just what we live, It’s far more than that, and I couldn’t wait to have new experiences and to get away from everything that it hurt me.

I mostly love this picture, because it represent the wisdom of life, how we sometimes over think about stupid stuff, like getting angry when you are late ‘cuz of the traffic for example.. it’s just ridiculous!  if you think that once upon a time it was a city without traffic without hunger without anger, you think who the real stupid is here…

How funny life is, my first time at the super market in the U.S. I saw a book of the exhibition, obviously bought it haha 

Where i would love to live...

I usually daydream about living and getting to know other cultures, but mostly because I feel so attracted to their traditions, I have been thinking of so many options since I was little. When I was younger, at school I used to think that the coolest thing would be to live in England, in Oxford or something like that but, mostly ‘cause of the influences I had at that time, like  my two favorite writers at that time were both British, so I wanted to go so badly to England, Scotland , and Ireland too, but now, I think even though I would love to visit those places, I’m thinking more in an exotic place, like Russia,  Turkey, India or Vietnam, I know they are far apart but, still , getting to see all the “undiscovered” cultures just makes me want to take my bags and fly right away J

If I have to choose only one of those countries, I have to go for Russia. I have felt pretty much like an obsession with Russia, my whole life. Starting with the child movie “Anastasia”, which was like my top ten to watch till I was like 14 haha… I just love the cold, and the forest & I recently saw a couple of films that were filmed at Russia, “the way back” and “the concert” I think even though my obsession is about their history and mostly about how they survive to live in such a bad weather, like in Siberia. But mostly in their Architecture, they have so many different forms that I would like to understand, and see how everything works for them.

I would love to travel around Russia, very big country haha, and also if I have the chance to work as a student in some Work Group in Russia (even if I don’t get a single penny) I would love to do it, to learn everything that I can.

My favorite  TV show is Jamie’s Kitchen , I love to cook, especially for other people mostly to see their reaction (even if it tastes bad haha) but this TV show has come to me and touched my cooking soul very deeply because I think Jamie Oliver ( the chef) is just amazing. He makes cooking a whole new experience and transforms my primitive point of view into a glorious passion for food. He really looks excited for you to learn how to make some dishes, and encourages you to improvise and make it your own way.  It’s such an interactive program, that’s why I love it so much, and it makes a big difference with other food programs ‘cause they are so traditional and Jamie Oliver is just way out of ordinary haha. He has an organic garden & that’s very cool, because I don’t like the plastic food you can find in the supermarket I prefer to spend more hours ( when I can) and prepare something made with love.

IPod: best technological thing ever

I’m usually very late with the technological things, I always have the oldest cellphone, the oldest TV , but somehow my life changed when I was in the U.S. and I got the fever of having an ipod.

 The Ipod touch didn’t exist yet, so I was hoping to get an Ipod nano, because one of my very best friends had one and it just seemd the perfect size to carry on, during gym class, running or traveling , so I decided I was going to get it on Thanksgiving Day , because it was cheaper. I woke up that day very very excited and my host family had a gift for me , and guess what?? It was an Ipod! I couldn’t believe it! From then on I never left my house without it.

But unfortunately it was stolen from me in a cab. And it was a very sad day, I had so many great songs in it! And many times I dreamed that I found it in my pockets it was very very sad! .. until my grandpa gave me one as a Christmas present , the new ipod touch! it was the best day ever… I use it every day, for taking notes, I usually check my e-mails on it , my FB my twitter, it’s just awesome and I can take beautiful pics with it J
